16 weeks, another 5K in the books, and Oliver's first race!

Best twenty seconds EVER!

16 weeks and counting. (More Old Navy outfits, a dress down day and one gym outfit
A highlight of this week was absolutely the Memorial Day race held in nearby South Salem, NY. I ran the 10K last year (holy hills!) and managed the 5K this year. Meredith came to visit all the way from Pittsburgh and we rocked out some pretty decent 'rolling hills' at a nice 9:12/mi pace. (Not sure my heart rate or 'Green Pear' could've handled much faster than that.)

As much as I loved my own race, the best part was how excited Oliver was to run his own race! Although he could have handled a good quarter (or half!) mile, he enjoyed running once he saw the other kids heading out. He ended up coming in third (Ben was keeping track!) and he wore his (humongous!) race shirt all afternoon. His bib and blue ribbon are hanging up on his wall right where he can see them.

Soulmate comes to CT/NY!

Oliver lined up with all of the other two year olds ready to go!
(His buddy, Scott, is the second from right)

A not-so-bad family photo.

Hooray!

...and I told my class about Green Pear, they're super excited so I'll get to wear what I want to work from now on - no hiding the belly! WOO HOO!

...five months from tomorrow is our scheduled date. WOAH.

15 weeks!

15 Down, 23/24 to go!

The pants on the left are my absolute favorite Old Navy pants. The rockstar super skinnies (HERE) that are surprisingly flattering. Even at this point. I picked up three pairs in January when they first (?) came out - red cord, grey cord and yellow cotton. These blue ones (a size up) were on sale for $19!

The pink maternity pants were a great find at H&M last week! They have a fold over top which will end up being great this summer. (Tutoring at school with no A/C!) I can still get away without maternity clothes for the time being - but these were such a fun color I wanted to try them out!

We'll see how far into this week I get without spilling the beans. It's getting harder and harder to get dressed in the morning, especially as the mercury is rising. No longer can I really pull of scarves or cardigans!  I (no exaggeration here) tried on twelve different outfits on Friday morning. Stress!

5K recap!

5K? Check!
(15 weeks)

Kerry, Bethann, moi, Kate, Jen.
Race recap:
26:31
8:42/mile average
19/103 division
162/1280 overall

It was a little chilly at the start, so I started off with my sleevies on. They ended up folded into my (awesome!) pink pants around the 1.5 mile mark. I forgot my iPod (doh!) so I rocked the Pandora Pitbull radio station on my iPhone. Luckily the ads (in Spanish) came on going downhill. Score!

I really do miss running with friends - even friends who get nervous with me running alongside them :) Today I needed to hear "I thought you said you were pregnant!" after a coworker made a nasty remark on Friday about it being "umm.... pretty obvious at this point." Running always makes me feel wonderful, and I'm hoping to keep it up even longer than last time!

Oh yeah - Happy Mother's Day! Especially to my three (!) wonderful moms, and my amazing friends/family who are going to become moms in the next few months - love you!

14 weeks...

We're getting there!
14 week outfits

Again, more scarves... bought a new pair of pants (red and blue) from Old Navy the other day. Not maternity, just a size up. I wish they sold maternity wear in their stores, not just online, but they occasionally have an internet return that works. Oh, the issues. The photo on the left is hilarious. We were at a friend's birthday party and I had to close the top of my pants with a hair elastic. Ben laughed at me, but they were skinny three months ago!

How far along: 14 weeks
Baby info: Measures 3 1/2 inches (size of a lemon) and weighs 1 1/2 ounces.
Total weight gain: 5 pounds give or take...
Maternity clothes: Not yet. It WILL happen much earlier than last time. For sure.
Sleep: Not bad. Started putting a pillow between my knees. Took a good hour-long nap today and it was bliss.
Best moment of this week: Running around the beach last Sunday with Oliver screaming "Run like Mommy!"
Cove Beach 5.5.13

Miss anything: Deli meat.
Food cravings: pasta, chips, fruit, Caesar salad, Lifesavers mints and anything sweet.
Anything making you queasy or sick: nope! not this time! (even chicken)
Have you started to show yet: I've been trying REALLY hard not to. But, sadly, this one is popping more than the first time.
Gender: I think it's a boy, Ben disagrees.
Looking forward to: Running a Mother's Day 5K tomorrow, and then having dinner with some fam while watching the Rangers.

Here we go again!

Not sure what happened to yesterday's post... so here goes an abbreviated version. We're happy and excited to be adding to our family at the end of October! Oliver wants to name the new baby "Green Pear." Not Gwenyth over here, so that's a work in progress.

While I was in the early (aka awkward) months with Oliver - you know the ones, the 'she had a few too many beers, but doesn't quite look big enough to be making a little human in there' - I was on summer vacation and didn't have to worry about what to wear to work. And by wear to work, I mean hide my formerly flatter midsection. So, here's a rundown of a few outfits I've worn to work the last couple months. Yes, I wore more clothes, but I was either too tired when I came home from work, or didn't think to take a picture before I left. There's also quite a large difference in bloat between 7am and 5pm.

You'll notice a few trends. Lots of black (sorry Mer!). Only one scarf but I'm pretty sure every unphotographed day contains a scarf. Big necklace. Longer cardigans. Horizontal stripes (oddly enough!). In putting yesterday's post together I realized that approximately 75% of my wardrobe is from Old Navy. We'll see where it goes from here...

I've got a 5K coming up next weekend, hoping I can get in a good 3-4 miles this weekend. I've felt pretty good - finally getting my energy back. (Husband is VERY happy about that one and is looking forward to me not needing a nap at 5:00pm daily).  I've managed to make it to the gym or Stroller Strides every day this year, and even went to a yoga class last week. After that, I had the BEST night sleep. It's going to become a must. Hopefully I'll be able to start swimming soon, and maybe even playing some tennis! Stay tuned...
